Cinemas shut down in Australia over COVID-19

Cinemas across Australia shut down screenings over the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

Cinemas across Australia have been asked to shut down screenings due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

The new order has been made by the commonwealth of Australia on March 22 and it will be executed as of Monday March 23, 2020.

Prior to this date, the movie theaters were open to cinemagoers under new rules of social distancing. So, each venue accepted less viewers that before for each screening.

This is not the only closure that Australian government has ordered for. Besides it, all the crowded places such as restaurants, cafes, gymnasiums and bars will be closed until further notice.

While this is the case, the schools of this country are still running and students must attend their lessons.

The total number of cases that have been tested positive with coronavirus is around 1314 and the number of the deaths has reached to seven people.

Coronavirus appeared first in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December and has since spread globally. The World Health Organization has declared it a global health emergency.
